deafPLUS - Social Activities PDF Print E-mail

deafPLUS believes in enhancing social opportunities for our service users as this is an integral component of their overall development as a deaf or hard of hearing person. Also social interaction plays a valuable part in their on-going rehabilitation. To fulfil this need we host the following social get-togethers in the following regions:

Tower Hamlets

We have Deaf club every Friday afternoon between 2 and 6pm, for Asian people. Also we have deaf club every Thursday all day for deaf people aged 60 and over.

On our Friday Deaf Club, come and play pool and join us for tea and coffee. Chat with friends too!

Go to Tower Hamlets for more information

East Acton

Every Wednesday we run an Asian Deaf Women's Group. We either run workshops and social activities in our premises, or we go on day trips to parks, museums and other attractions in London.

We also run a hard of hearing club for local hard of hearing people. Contact the East Acton Centre for more information.

Hampshire

In Hampshire, we coordinate several forums for hard of hearing people aged 60 plus. At these forums we provide much-needed social and emotional support for hard of hearing and recently-deafened people, along with information sharing and the occasional trip out and other social gatherings. Members enjoy meeting one another and learning from each other’s experiences and assist each other in developing strategies for coping with the sudden onset of deafness. Please contact the Hampshire office for further details.

Aldershot. deafPLUS Friends social group. Second Thursday each month.
Mychett Centre. deafPLUS Social Group last Thursday of each month, 7.30pm – 9.30pm.
