Information, Advice and Guidance

An information, advice and guidance service for Deaf and hard of hearing people living in Birmingham. Surgeries and workshops offer free personal and practical support on a range of issues including:

  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Attendance Allowance (AA)
  • Income Support
  • Tax credits
  • Housing – including Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and applying for housing
  • Access to council services
  • Advice on access to legal services
  • Providing advocacy support at meetings with other agencies
  • Signposting to other agencies
  • Internet cafe - Internet access and web-based information
  • Sign language interpreting and communication support

Workshops and events!

The Birmingham office is running a series of workshops and community talks between March and September 2010. Thes etalks are on subjects such as safer neighborhoods, employment for deaf people, safer travelling and so-on. Go to the Events page for a list of dates and workshop topics.
