Information and Advice
We provide one-to-one confidential Information & Advice services including in BSL across England. Our goal is to help D/deaf and hard of hearing people develop their independence and wellbeing.
The Information & Advice support we offer includes, but is not limited to:
- Benefits
- Housing
- Debt
- Employment
- Independent living
You can also visit our digital hub to get information in British Sign Language (BSL) video on a wide range of topics.
Equipment for Home & Life
deafPLUS can provide an equipment assessment, fitting and maintenance service for Deaf and hard of hearing people.
The equipment we supply includes:
- TV Loop systems
- Alerting devices
- Personal listening devices
- Textphones (minicoms)
- Fax machines
- Telephone amplifiers
- Flashing and vibrating smoke alarms (at our Bath office only)
- Flashing and vibrating smoke alarms (referrals made to London Fire Brigade)
- Batteries and tubing
Health, Wellbeing And Social
deafPLUS provides health & wellbeing activities.
Our work tackles health inequalities and social isolation amongst D/deaf and hard of hearing people. We provide various activities, workshops, training and courses that is available for clients, families and health professionals to crucially improve access for deaf and hard of hearing community.
We provide various types of activities, such as:
- Health workshops
- Family holiday activities
- Deaf Awareness Training for health professionals
- Lipreading classes
- Arts and crafts events
- Befriender support

Deaf/Blind VI Service
visionPLUS offer similar services to deafPLUS except that the service is tailored to the needs of people facing sight loss.
Bath is contracted through Virgin Care to provide our service (Virgin Care provide Health and Social Care in Bath and North East Somerset).
We offer a range of services and our service provided is tailored to our individual client. Some of the services we provide are:
- Information about living with sight loss, eye conditions and sight loss.
- General Advice with regards to coping with sight loss
- Advocacy: support with difficult issues
- Benefits Advice: including form filling, attendance at medical assessments, dealing with reconsiderations and appeals and attendance at Tribunals
- Equipment: including funded or partly funded equipment such as mobility canes, lighting talking clocks etc.
